M2: Equity and the IDEA

- Description: Synchronous or asynchronous discussion. Student use the Hand In Hand for OSEP Fast Facts: Race and Ethnicity of Children with Disabilities Served under IDEA Part B tool to explore the concept of racial disproportionality in special education. This activity would work well as an online discussion board, but (as long as students are given time to read the associated articles) it would also be an excellent face-to-face or online synchronous activity.

M2: Scenario-Based Exploration
- Alignments: 1h, 2h
- Description: Synchronous or asynchronous discussion. Students choose a case study representing a student’s academic experience to analyze and identify what they notice about their strengths and weaknesses without making assumptions about the student. After identifying the strengths and weaknesses, students will explain what they might do to support the student’s learning effectively.
