Learning Objectives

By carefully reading this chapter and completing the learning activities within it, you should be able to do the following:

  • Describe the difference between renewable and non-renewable energy and the general makeup of U.S. and world electricity sources
  • Explain the formation of fossil fuels (coal, oil, and natural gas) as well as the pros and cons of using these resources for energy
