Book Description
AI-Enabled OER is a comprehensive resource designed to support educators in integrating generative artificial intelligence (AI) into their teaching practices. Developed by a team of academic professionals from Minnesota State Colleges and Universities, this book addresses common barriers to Open Educational Resources (OER) adoption, such as time constraints, quality concerns, limited technical skills, and the need for personalization.
The book begins with a user survey to assess comfort levels with AI and introduces various ways AI can support curriculum development, structured around UNESCO’s OER Recommendation. This framework highlights four key perspectives for applying AI in education: professional, enhancing educators’ skills and knowledge; ethical, addressing concerns about AI’s role in educational content development; sustainable, promoting long-term, effective use of AI in education; and equitable, ensuring fair access and benefits for all learners.
The purpose of this resource is to guide educators in using AI to create effective learning activities while also addressing concerns about its role in educational content development. By leveraging AI, educators can overcome traditional barriers to OER adoption and create personalized, high-quality educational experiences.
