Activity #E8: Mind Mapping

Humans are very visual. Have you ever heard the notion that seeing is believing? Imagery is often quite helpful as an elaboration tool. Just like icons on a map to mark locations and destinations, a learning map is often useful in aiding our memory.

Elaboration is a skill for learning that, like paying attention takes practice. It is difficult to decide what is important to learn so it is crucial for students to partner with their teachers to make good use of class resources. If you are unsure what knowledge to elaborate upon (from a lecture or your texts) ask your teacher for some good examples. Also, stay tuned for some additional guidance on studying and effective note-taking.
