Conclusion
This chapter provides a summary of specific learning disabilities. There is not one clear-cut condition under this category of disability, but rather several. It is also important to remember that just because a student struggles, it does not mean that they have a disability, nor does it mean that they are lazy or uncaring. Build a relationship, get to know your student, and find out how they are doing. Careful data gathering, observations, and interviews with the student, teachers, parents, and others who may work with the student are needed to obtain a clear picture of the child’s individual needs.
